WHY I LOVE MY JOB

WHY I LOVE MY JOB

WHY I LOVE MY JOB!

I love hearing about how my work leads to success. Here is a great example:

On July 14, 2012, I ran the Dances with Dirt half marathon trail race in Wisconsin Dells – on a slightly sprained ankle. It was a beautiful day and a great race. I also remember the unexplainable hip pain the next day. I had no idea that this race would be my last race of any distance for years and that it would begin a five-year journey to get back to simply sitting and walking without pain in my hip.

My five-year journey started much like anyone who gets injured. “I’ll get better, I just need a little rest.” After that, I went to a general practitioner (who didn’t run) and prescribed me muscle relaxants. I went to him several times with no talk of physical therapy — or anything else. I moved on. My journey took me to a knee specialist, two hip specialists, multiple x-rays and MRIs of my hip, and one recommendation for hip surgery. After eight months of pain — and a lot of money — the second opinion I received from hip surgeon #2 was to see Jeanie Crawford.

I remember my first meeting with Jeanie like it was yesterday. I explained my problem and the struggles I’d been having and all she said was, “Yep, we’ll fix all of that.” My journey took me through a lot of PT, dry needling and slowly unwinding a body that had sat at a desk much too long. This journey took me to August 27, 2017, when I completed the Chicago Triathlon – Olympic distance.

Everything happens for a reason. Seven years later I’m a stronger person thanks to Jeanie’s expertise, confidence and, equally important, her passion for fixing people. Young, old, athlete, or average Joe, if you’re in pain for any reason, go see Jeanie — she will fix you. I wish she had been the first stop on my journey.
